Nonono alt un attimo, facciamo chiarezza una volta per tutte: api e vespe sono completamente diverse! Certo, entrambe svolacchiano, entrambe striate di nero, ma ci sono delle differenze molto molto importanti.

Quello che devo ammettere é che onestamente anche io ero nel team „api e vespe, un tuttuno“ prima di questo incontro ravvicinato col mondo delle api. Ti va a questo punto di scoprire insieme le principali differenze tra api e vespe? Vamos!

L’abito fa il monaco

Noti ora le differenze tra api e vespe?

Ti sembra che viste cosí non abbiano proprio alcuna differenza, vero? Gemelle separate alla nascita! A dire il vero non é esattamente cosí. Non solo differiscono nel loro trascorrere la giornata, nei loro gusti e passioni, ma anche nella loro apparenza. Ecco qui qualcosa che ti dovrebbe balzare all’occhio non appena ti trovi davanti a una vespa:

  • Le vespe sono gialle e nere, un giallo Titti per intenderci. Mentre le api generalmente (quelle ‘classiche’, apis mellifera, sono piú aranciate)
  • Le vespe sono depilate/liscissime, le api hanno una pelliccina leggera
  • Le vespe sono magroline; mentre le api sono piú cicciottine/tozze

Questi sono tre punti principali che, se tenuti a mente, anche non espertissimi come noi possono tranquillamente distinguere il tutto.

Andiamo piú nel dettaglio?

Ci sono poi tutta una serie di differenze tra vespe e api che, mi dispiace se suono alquanto imparziale, ma ti faranno probabilmente provare una certa simpatia per le api. Non ci resta che procedere:

  • Le api e il loro super organismo: il super organismo ape é potenzialmente infinito, si contrae e si dilata a seconda della stagione (quindi diminuiscono o aumentano in numero) ma é infinito. Mentre per quanto riguarda le vespe? A fine stagione producono un po’ di regine e proprio loro saranno le uniche sopravvissute. Ebbene, tutte le altre vespe muoiono! E a fine inverno le uniche regine vespe che saranno sopravvissute (ecco perché ne preparano un po’, l’inverno fará comunque una certa cernita) ripartiranno da zero con il loro nido.
  • Il nido: eh pure quello é parecchio diverso. Quello delle api é un capolavoro di cellette esagonali fatte di cera, il nido delle vespe é molto piú grezzo, fatto con pezzi di legno che racimolano in giro (ricorda bene, le vespe non producono cera, sole le api hanno questo super potere!)
  • Le api non rovinano la frutta dei campi: le api hanno sí delle mandiboline, ma non ci fanno niente di che, le usano ad esempio per modellare la cera. Loro vanno ghiotte di nettare e per quello necessitano della loro ‘proboscide’, la ligula. Le vespe hanno delle mandibole niente male in grado di spaccare la frutta, come acini di uva o ciliege. Non si fanno tanti scrupoli a rovinare raccolti!
  • le api sono gli impollinatori per eccellenza, questo ormai é sempre piú risaputo, ma le vespe? No le vespe no, e per di piú nel periodo piú delicato dell’anno (ovvero a fine estate quando si dá il meglio per prepararsi all’inverno che si avvicina) cercano in ogni modo di entrare nelle arnie delle api per rubare le loro scorte…pensa te!
