Il Natale é sempre piú vicino. Fremo per visitare i mercatini di Natale, non vedo proprio l’ora. Lucine, decorazioni natalizie, dolci alla cannella e…idromele! Eh si, perché se dalle mie parti in Italia in questo periodo dell’anno trovi principalmente il vin brulé, qua invece é proprio l’idromele che va per la maggiore! Ma che cos’é l’idromele di preciso? Centrano le mele? Perché ne parliamo qui? Ha forse a che fare con le api?

Ecco un’altra cosa nuova per i miei cinque sensi da quando mi sono trasferita qui e ho avuto modo di tuffarmi nel mondo delle api. Ebbene sí perché non centrano le mele, ma le api sí, piú nello specifico il loro miele. Ma cos’é l’idromele? É una bevanda, una bevanda alcolica. Il suo grado alcolico deriva dalla fermentazione tra acqua e miele, che poi alla fine sono i suoi due ingredienti base.
Ma allora perché si chiama idromele?
Lo so, il nome puó trarre in inganno, ma non ha nulla a che vedere con le mele. Questa parola deriva dal greco, idro (=acqua) e melis (=miele), proprio i suoi due ingredienti principali. La sua gradazione puó oscillare tra i 7 e i 16 gradi, dipende un po‘ dal tipo di miele che si usa. Ad esempio, il millefiori tende sempre a dare gradazioni piú alte, come nel nostro caso che é 15,5 gradi. L’idromele ha bisogno anche di altri ingredienti per innescare la fermentazione, come appositi lieviti e un pizzico di acido citrico.
Ma si puó aggiungere dell‘altro all‘ idromele?
Certo, ci si puó sbizzarrire. Si puó lasciare riposare con delle spezie, si possono aggiungere succhi oppure si puó lasciare anche cosí liscio, diciamo. Le varietá possono essere veramente infinite. E questa é una delle cose piú belle di questo prodotto e che lo rende unico. Ci siamo cimentati infatti in diversi esperimenti e combinazioni prima di raggiungere le nostre varietá preferite e tutto ció ci ha dato molta soddisfazione.
Ma con cosa lo posso bere?
Generalmente viene molto apprezzato con dei desserts o come aperitivo. Ma una sua particolaritá che adoro é che é buonissimo sia in un calice bello fresco che sorseggiato caldo in una tazza, fa molto cozy. É ormai diventato un must per le nostre feste e momenti importanti. E tu che ci dici? L’hai mai assaggiato?
