‚Du weißt das es noch andere Bestäuber gibt? Nicht nur die Bienen…’

‘Natürlich, Ja!’ Habe ich Basti prompt geantwortet!

An dem Punkt begann mein kleiner Hamster im „nein warte,… welche Bestäuber gibt es noch“-Rad zu laufen.

Sind alle Bestäuber so sehr bedroht wie die Bienen? Wenn ja, was wurde bislang für sie getan? Kann ich auch etwas beitragen? Ok, einatmen und ausatmen… und lies weiter!

Der kleine Hamster hat mich inspiriert diesen Artikel zu schreiben. In unserem ersten Artikel ( https://www.gaeblini.com/en/2021/03/21/why-are-bees-so-important/ ), haben wir über Bienen und ihre große Bedeutung als Bestäuber gesprochen. Nichtsdestotrotz gibt es noch weitere, kennst du sie? Schließ deine Augen und versuche die verschiedenen Arten aufzuzählen – versuche es einfach! Vielleicht gelingt es dir alle zu erraten.

Oh ja, unsere Freunde die Bienen kennt man als Botschafter der Bestäuber, aber sie sind ganz sicher nicht die einzigen.

In ihrer Begleitung befinden sich: Motten, Schmetterlinge, Ameisen, Wespen, Mücken (nur die Männlichen, die Weiblichen sind die die Blut bevorzugen), Hummeln, Käfer, und Schwebfliegen. und auch Nichtinsekten gibt es. Jedoch gibt es auch Bestäuber außerhalb der Familie der Insekten, wie Fledermäuse, Kolibris und Lemuren (du kennst, Madagaskar?). Während meiner Recherche fand ich sogar eine spezialisierte Spezies von Eidechsen, beheimatet in Asien. In einigen Tropischen Regionen gibt es kleinere Vögel welche sich hauptsächlich von Nektar ernähren. Südamerika ist die Heimat einer spezialisierten Maus, diese mag keinen Käse aber dafür Pilze. Dieser Serien-Pilz-Fresser verteilt unkontrolliert Pollen während er auf Nahrungssuche ist.

Dies sind nur einige der Artenvielfalt–Avengers! Da es nicht nur Insekten sind sind sie auch sehr Vielfältig. Sie alle sind Helfer der Natur und ihrer Balance, ohne sich dessen Bewusst zu sein. Unglücklicherweise sind sie alle mehr oder weniger durch Verschmutzung, Klimaveränderungen, Pestizide und den Verlust ihres natürlichen Lebensraumes bedroht.

Tut irgendjemand, irgendetwas für sie?

Also … Wir haben gesagt das sie essenziel notwendig sind da anderenfalls unser Nahrungsangebot drastisch reduziert würde. Wir haben gesagt, dass sie ein grandioses Team sind. Aber wir sagten auch, dass sie durch die oben genannten Gründe in großer Gefahr schweben.

Mit meinen Überlegungen an diesem Punkt angelangt, habe ich mich gefragt (ein wenig ängstlich, das gebe ich gern zu) – macht irgendjemand irgendetwas?

Ich habe danach im Internet gesucht und der Fakt das ich Schwierigkeiten hatte Beispiele zu finden, ist meiner Meinung nach sehr Aussagekräftig. Beide, die Vereinten Nationen und die Europäische Union sind sich grundsätzlich bewusst, dass ein ernsthaftes allgemeines Bewusstsein dieses Problems fehlt. In anderen Worten, die Menschen müssen das verstehen, wirklich verstehen. Wahr ist auch das dieselben Institutionen den Fokus erst vor kurzem darauf richteten (endlich). Denn wir sitzen am Ende alle in dem selben Boot.

Ich frage noch einmal: tut irgendjemand irgendetwas?

nach diesem grundsätzlichen mea culpa, Ja! Jemand tut etwas. Zum Beispiel, die „Global Action on Pollination Services for Sustainable Agriculture“ der FAO mit dem GPP Programm (Global Pollination Project, mehr findest du unter diesem Link http://www.fao.org/pollination/projects/conservation-and-management-of-pollination-for-sustainable-agriculture/en/ ). Mit diesem Programm unterstützt die FAO unterschiedlichste Projekte rund um die Welt. Mit dem Ziel die Bevölkerung für Bestäuber, Nachhaltigen Anbau und den Respekt für unser Ökosystem zu sensibilisieren. Bezugnehmend auf die Europäische Union: der Kern des Green deal (2019-2024) ist unsere Umwelt (deshalb auch, ‘green‘ 😉 ). Unter den Punkten auf dieser Agenda: die Artenvielfalt wiederherzustellen und der Kampf gegen die Verschmutzung. Vor nicht all zu vielen Jahren hat die EU einige Unternehmungen von Mitgliedstaaten, zum Schutz und zur Hilfe der Bestäuber, aufgelistet.

  • In Österreich fördert die Regierung das Anlegen und die Pflege von Straßenrändern und Feldern voll mit Blumen. Sie organisieren Kurse um Bestäuber zu identifizieren. Zusätzlich gibt es an vielen Fußwegen Schilder mit Hilfe derer man viel über Bienen lernen kann.
  • seit 2015 organisiert das Belgische Amt für Umwelt, Agrar & Energie die so genannte ‚Bienenwoche‘. Ihr Ziel? Die Probleme der Umwelt und im speziellen der Bienen im Bewusstsein der Bevölkerung zu stärken. Nicht nur, um dazu zu animieren eine vielfältigere und reichere Umwelt für Bestäuber zu schaffen sondern auch um Praktiken und Denkweisen gegenüber diesen zu ändern. Weiterhin organisieren sie einen Wettbewerb unter Städten die sich um ihre Grünflächen kümmern und am Ende wird die Bienenfreundlichste Stadt gekürt. Immer noch Belgien: im April 2015 startete, in Kollaboration mit der beliebtesten Flämischen Zeitung, eine Kampagne in welcher 1000 Insektenhotels verschenkt wurden.
  • In Irland gibt es seit 1985 den jährlichen Wettbewerb ‚Saubere Stadt‘. Mit dem Ziel kleinen aber wunderschönen irische Städte hervorzuheben. In 2016 – 2017 hat diese Initiative in vielen Städten dazu ermutigt Bestäuber freundliche Praktiken umzusetzen. Am Ende wurden die besten Städte ausgezeichnet (mehr als 70 Städte!). 2017 begann ein Projekt welches darin bestand die Bestäuber durch Kunst zu entdecken, dies beinhaltete auch Musik, entstanden durch Aufnahmen der Geräusche von, natürlich in Irland, heimischen Bestäubern.
  • In Spanien hat das Wissenschaftsinstitut von Madrid in Zusammenarbeit mit den Königlichen Botanischen Gärten und der Spanischen Stiftung für Wissenschaft & Technik ein Bildungsprogramm über Bestäuber ins Leben gerufen. Studenten beobachteten Bestäuber in den Grünflächen von Madrid und veröffentlichten ihre Ergebnisse auf einer Wissenschaftsplattform im Netz (Natusfera). Aus diesem Projekt wurde dann eine APP entwickelt (PolinizAPP). Diese APP ist ein Weg die Bevölkerung für die Wichtigkeit der Bestäuber, die Probleme denen sie ausgesetzt sind und den Prozess der Bestäubung an sich, auf eine spielerische Art zu sensibilisieren

Alle diese Projekte haben gemeinsam das sie aus Interessensgruppen bestehen. In dieser Zeit, in der wir durch höhere Gewalt gezwungen sind auf Distanz zueinander zu bleiben, glaube ich, ist es gut Gemeinsamkeiten zu finden. Gemeinsamkeiten über die wir uns alle zusammen die Köpfe zerbrechen können und zu entscheiden was jeder für sich kleines tun kann. Dies würde über alle Sicherheits- und Distanzbeschränkungen erhaben sein, nicht wahr? Denn eigentlich ist diese Gemeinsamkeit, der Schutz unserer Umwelt, wichtig für Jeden da unsere Zukunft und auch die Zukunft unserer Zukunft davon abhängt.
