Eines Tages, kommend von einem wundervollen Spaziergang im friedlichen Friedrichswalde, wärend wir die Straße entlang gingen und unsere Bienenbeuten überblickten dachte ich: „Wie schön sind unsere Bienenbeuten??“. Dann überlegte ich wie jemand der die Natur liebt und sich für Nachhaltigkeit sowie Artenvielfalt einsetzt den Imkern und Bienen helfen kann.

Hast du dich je gefragt: Bienen sind nützlich und Honig ist gut, doch was kann ich als einzelner tun? Wie kann ich den Bienen helfen?

Dies ist ganz sicher eine gute Frage! Wenn du verstanden hast wie wichtig Bienen – diese winzigen Wesen – für unser Ökosystem sind, ist mit Sicherheit etwas in dir erwacht. Es ist unsere Welt, kann ich etwas beitragen um sie zu erhalten, oder nicht? Vielleicht klingt dies ein wenig zu Groß gedacht, ich weiß! Allerdings bin ich 100% überzeugt, dass wir etwas bewirken können wenn jeder einzelne ein klein wenig Engagement für den Schutz der Artenvielfalt übernimmt. Den Bienen zu helfen ist sicherlich ein guter erster Schritt. Sich zu beschweren aber nicht zu handeln hilft sicherlich nicht etwas zu verändern. Sich den Kopf zu zerbrechen ohne zu handeln führt nicht vorwärts. Aber was wenn aus Überlegungen Taten werden? Wie denkst du darüber?

Man erntet was man sät… da haben wir es: wir sollten säen! 🙂

Wie können wir den Bienen helfen? #plant&act!

Es gibt eine große Auswahl an Blumen in welche Bienen regelrecht vernarrt sind. Mit anderen Worten, Blumen mit reichlich Nektar. Weißt du, es ist in etwa so, wie wenn du in den Supermarkt gehst und deine Lieblingskekse (Es tut mir leid, Ich liebe Kekse) im Angebot sind! Und wie wäre es wenn genau du etwas pflanzt das Bienen glücklich macht? Hast du je von Bienenfreundlichen Pflanzen gehört? Dies sind Pflanzen die gut für Bienen sind und ihnen helfen. Bevor ich in diese Schwaz-Gelbe Welt eintauchte ist mir dies nie aufgefallen. Wenn du in eine Gärtnerei oder einen gewöhnlichen Supermarkt gehst wirst du sehr wahrscheinlich Pflanzen mit dem Etikett ‚Bienenfreundlich‘ finden. Genau diese Pflanze wäre auf der Amazon-Wunschliste jeder Biene.

Es gibt viele Studien zu dieser ‚Wunschliste‘ der Bienen. Sie führen so weit: das Forscher errechnet haben wie viel Honig von einer Pflanzenart, in ihrer Blühphase unter exzellenten Bedingungen, erhalten werden kann. Hast du einen Garten oder einen Balkon? Wie wäre es diesem das gewisse Extra mit einer Bienenfreundlichen Pflanze zu verleihen? Die Meißten brauchen kaum oder keine Pflege – du musst also keinen grünen Daumen haben.

Was sollte man Pflanzen um den Bienen zu helfen?

Es gibt sehr viele Bienenfreundliche Pflanzen! In einem Handbuch für Imker fand ich ein paar Beispiele:

  • Phacelia oder auch Bienenfreund (Phacelia tanacetifolia): hat viel Nektar, eine lange Blütezeit und dies eignet sich hervorragend für Bienen da sie den Nektar Stück für Stück und über einen längeren Zeitraum erhalten
  • Hovenia Dulcis oder Japanischer Rosinenbaum: Der Fruchtstiel ist essbar und schmeckt süß (die Früchte sind allerdings ungenießbar), er blüht spät im Jahr und produziert viel Nektar
  • Evodia Tetradium oder auch Stinkesche: dieser Baum produziert so viel Nektar, dass er den Spitznamen Honigbaum erhalten hat. Bienen vergöttern diesen Baum. Er blüht ebenfalls spät (im Spätsommer und Herbst). Warum ich das erwähne? Weil es wichtig ist den Bienen das ganze Jahr über ein reichhaltigen Nahrungsangebot zu bieten.

Es existieren auch hilfreiche dekorativere Pflanzen. Zum Beispiel Tulpenbäume, Lavendel, Linden und Eukalyptus eignen sich ebenfalls sehr gut als Nektar Lieferanten.

Obstbäume lassen Bienen, im wahrsten sinne des Wortes, Samba tanzen. Zum Beispiel Kirsch-, Apfel-, Quitten- und Birnenbäume. Genauso Haselnuss-, Blaubeer-, Himbeer-, Johannisbeer-, Erdbeer, und Brombeersträucher.

Wenn du kochen liebst und deine Gerichte gern mit Kräutern garnierst, so wie ich. Wird es dich freuen zu lesen dass auch die Bienen für Kräuter wie Rosmarin, Salbei, Basilikum und Thymian schwärmen

Im Grunde genommen bietest du den Bienen eine Mahlzeit an indem du eine Pflanze kaufst. Etwas einfaches das jeder tun kann um Bienen zu helfen. Nicht schlecht, oder? Außerdem wäre schön wenn wir unsere Regierungen dafür sensibilisieren könnten, in unseren Freiflächen und Parks diese Art von Pflanzen zu verwenden. Es wäre eine Bienenfreundliche Vorgehensweise! Zum Beispiel auf dem öffentlichen Feld neben unserem Haus wurden viele Quitten- und Birnenbäume gepflanzt. Jeder der will kann ernten. Tatsächlich haben wir letzten Herbst einige Kilo Quitten geerntet. Ich brachte sogar einen Korb zu meiner Mutter und Tante in Bergamo. Auf vielen umliegenden Grünflächen gibt es auch noch Pflaumenbäume und Holundersträucher – Ich kann den Sommer kaum erwarten um meine meisterhaften Marmeladenfähigkeiten erneut unter Beweis zu stellen.

Und die gäblini? Was haben sie bisher gepflanzt?

Was ist mit uns? Im Garten der Gäblinis findest du 3 Apfelbäume (einen Baby-Apfelbaum den wir erst letztes Jahr gekauft haben, jetzt hat er viele niedliche Knospen), einen Kirschbaum und zwei Birnenbäume. Die Birnenbäume wurden im vergangen Jahr gepflanzt und haben nun einige schüchterne Knospen. Wir haben einen großen Rosmarin Busch, Salbei, Thymian und Oregano. Ein weiterer Bienenfreundlicher Neuankömmling der seit 2020 im Garten zu finden ist, ist Lavendel. Wir hoffen das es bald eine schöne große Pflanze wird.

Auf unserer fensterbank warten bereits Basilikum, Gurken, Tomaten, Rote Beete und Salat gepflanzt zu werden. Später werden wir Kartoffeln stecken, grüne Bohnen säen und Erdbeeren Pflanzen. Vor ein paar Jahren haben wir bereits Blaubeeren-, Himbeeren- und Johannisbeerenbüsche gepflanzt und wir sind von dem Ergebnis Positiv überrascht worden. 🙂 Ich habe es jedes mal genossen meinen Joghurt mit Honig und Himbeeren zu essen.
