Diventare apicoltore: i 4 punti fondamentali per un buon inizio

Diventare apicoltore. Un mestiere (e io mi sento sempre di definirla anche come un’arte) che in molti trovano affascinante. Io apicoltrice…Chi l’avrebbe mai detto? Sicuramente il 2021 é stato l’anno in cui ho ufficialmente iniziato a FARE. Esatto, a mettere in pratica quanto visto in teoria e a fare i miei primi piccoli grandi passi da apicoltrice in erba. Siamo al 19 dicembre, mi sento un’apicoltrice fatta e finita? Mm ad essere onesta no, ma anche perché parto dal presupposto che c’é sempre da imparare, da migliorarsi, da sperimentare,… inoltre, con due esempi accanto come nonno Heinz e Basti, come posso sentirmi ‘arrivata’? Ma va benissimo cosí, deve essere cosí. Il mio percorso nel mondo dell’apicoltura é ufficialmente iniziato e l’entusiasmo e la passione non fanno che crescere man mano si procede. Ma che deve fare una persona per entrare in questo universo ronzante? Da dove iniziare? Cosa non puó mancare? Oggi vedremo insieme quello che ci deve essere alla base del diventare un apicoltore, un buon apicoltore.

Prima di tutto il giusto mindset

Mindset? Cioé? La giusta crapa. La giusta mentalitá e attitudine. Come abbiamo giá detto, l’apicoltura é per tutti ma non é da tutti. Diventare apicoltore non é da chiunque. Innanzitutto, bisogna avere tanta tanta pazienza. Se pensi di svegliarti una mattina, comprare due arnie dal nulla e iniziare ad avere delle api tutte tue, non sei sulla buona strada. Ad ogni modo, questo lo vedremo nel paragrafo successivo. Alla pazienza si lega immediatamente anche lo spirito di sacrificio. In che senso? Per esempio, la maggior parte delle bellissime giornate estive (ovviamente weekend compresi) non le passerai sdraiata a leggere un libro e a prendere il sole, non le trascorrerai in riva al mare, ma con ogni probabilitá sarai chiusa in una tuta protettiva a ispezionare arnie, oppure a smielare favi uno dietro l’altro o a inseguire uno sciame che si é dato alla fuga. E a questo punto altra immancabile caratteristica: una forte motivazione. Se sei motivata, se dietro quello che fai c’é una ragione profonda, c’é una forte passione, c’é curiositá e voglia di fare, la pazienza e il sacrificio non saranno assolutamente un problema. Anzi, faticherai anche a chiamarli cosí…e difatti é come mi sento 🙂

Mai sottovalutare la formazione nel diventare apicoltore

La pazienza, la voglia di impegnarti e la motivazione non ti mancano? Allora puoi iniziare seriamente a pensare di diventare apicoltore. Ma ALT, piaaano, vai piano! Non basta, non basta assolutamente! Quanto ne sai delle api e dell’apicoltura? Che attrezzi ti servono? Cosa si deve fare e cosa non si deve fare? Sicuramente leggere tanto al riguardo é molto importante. Ci sono molti manuali che possono essere d’aiuto. Tuttavia, per avere un’idea piú chiara di quello che ti aspetta sarebbe ottimo trovare un apicoltore nelle vicinanze e chiedergli gentilmente se c’é la possibilitá di affiancarlo. Fare un po’ di esperienza sul campo, anche solo guardando da vicino le dinamiche dell’apiario fa la differenza perché da lí capisci come gira e se davvero ti va di tuffarti in questo mondo. In questo sono stata molto fortunata, convivendo con due apicoltori da cui ho cosí tanto da imparare. In ogni caso, tieni conto che io vivo qui da febbraio 2020 e ho iniziato seriamente quest’anno a mettere in pratica…questo per far capire che prima di aver fretta di iniziare, bisogna documentarsi e osservare tanto tanto!

Il necessaire per diventare apicoltore

Dalla formazione alla pratica e per la pratica serve tutta l’attrezzatura necessaria. Le due cose vanno di pari passo, come puoi ben immaginare: se sono ben formata ma non ho tutto l’occorrente, come faccio a lavorare? Ma se ho tutto ció che é necessario e non mi sono formata abbastanza, che ci faccio con tutti questi attrezzi? E le fondamenta su cui si basa tutto ció, sono proprio la pazienza, l’impegno e la motivazione. Pertanto, arrivata al punto che sei convinta e pronta quanto piú possibile per proseguire questo bellissimo sentiero apistico, devi capire il posto migliore dove posizionare le arnie e acquistarne (generalmente si comincia da un paio). La tuta protettiva non puó mancare, ma anche i vari attrezzi necessari per l’ispezione (come la spazzolona, la spatolina staccafavi, l’affumicatore…). Poi ci sono tante altre cose che ti possono servire. Se ad esempio vuoi ricavare del miele dalle tue arnie, ti servirá anche tutto l’occorrente per la smielatura. Ci vuole senz’altro un minimo di investimento iniziale (quindi devi considerare anche questo quando decidi di buttarti). Alcune cose ovviamente costano piú di altre, ma c’é anche da dire che durano nel tempo. Si tratta quindi di un vero e proprio investimento che se si decide di intraprendere questa attivitá é ad ogni modo necessario.

Un’associazione nelle vicinanze

Insomma, ormai é ufficiale – hai deciso di mettertici alla grande! A questo punto non dimenticarti di cercare l’associazione di apicoltori piú vicina a te e iscriverti. Sará fondamentale non solo come appoggio in caso di dubbi o per scambi di idee. Ad esempio, con l’associazione a cui apparteniamo paghiamo un’assicurazione annuale il cui valore varia a seconda del numero di arnie possedute. Inoltre, appartenere ad un’associazione, ti permetterá di registrare ufficialmente le tue arnie ed essere in regola in tutto e per tutto.

Ecco quindi cosa non puó mancare per diventare apicoltore! Non ho specificato qui sopra, ma va da se che di base servono altri fattori come avere tempo a disposizione per dedicarsi come si deve sin dall’inizio a una passione cosí grande. Potresti pensare ‘soldi, tempo, pazienza, sacrificio…’ perché uno dovrebbe impegolarsi in una cosa simile? Mio modesto parere? Perché sí vero, ti chiede tanto, specialmente all’inizio. Ma ti dá anche veramente tanto e se hai molta passione e entusiasmo nella vita, l’apicoltura te la renderá ancora piú speciale.
